History
Beginning with a factory established in Belgium in 1963, Honda set out to localize its production by establishing plants in European countries including Italy, France and Spain. Local parts procurement contributed to the creation of a truly symbiotic relationship between these operations and their domestic industrial bases. This reliance on local suppliers was essential in order to make Honda an integral part of the European market. Honda of the U.K. Mfg. was formed in 1985, and by 1992 full-scale automobile production in Britain was commenced. Honda now exports products from its European operations to all parts of the continent, and addition to the Middle East and Africa.
To fully support the sales and supply of accessories and air-conditioning units in these markets, Honda Access Europe was established as a branch office of Honda Access Japan in October,1991 and became operational in May 1992. As from April 1995, Honda Access Europe N.V. (HACE) has been incorporated as an independent company. It is located in Belgium (Aalst) close to Honda's European Logistics headquarters in Ghent and with easy communication routes to the Honda locations established all over Europe.
