Mungkin seiring perkembangan jaman.. Halah.. :p.. Dibuat sunroof yg bisa kebuka full atau ama kita disebut moonroof karena bisa menikmati indahnya terang bulan sambil beduaan ama pacar. :p. CMIIW..

nih biar lebih jelaass mangab bahasa inggris

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunroof

An automotive sunroof is a fixed or operable (venting or sliding) opening in an automobile roof which allows light and/or fresh air to enter the passenger compartment. Sunroofs may be manually operated or motor driven, and are available in many shapes, sizes and styles. (see sunroof definitions below)

Sunroofs, by historical definition are opaque and slide open to allow fresh air into the passenger compartment. Today, most factory sliding sunroof options feature a glass panel and are sometimes marketed as moonroofs, a term introduced in 1973 by John Atkinson, a marketing manager at Ford for the Lincoln Continental Mark IV. For the first year, Ford sent out its Mark IVs to American Sunroof Company for offline installation. The first car company to offer a sunroof as a standard option was the Nash Motor Company as an option on some of its 1937 models.[1]

Variations of both the sunroof and moonroof have become the norm in both factory installed and aftermarket offerings, creating a wide range of features and choices.

Sunroof systems may be manual or electric, while most moonroof systems are electric/electronic. Manual sunroofs may be lever actuated, as in venting type pop-ups, manual lever or crank operated for sliding systems. Electric roof systems are usually cable driven by a motor and feature some form of sliding opening. Most moonroof systems today are electric and have either a combination pop-up/inbuilt or a pop-up/spoiler configuration (see Sunroof Types below).

Roof systems may be original equipment, factory options (provided by the car company), or installed aftermarket by a roof installation professional for the car dealer or retail customer. Once the vehicle leaves the assembly line, the factory option can no longer be integrated into the roof, making aftermarket the only option.

Open sunroofs on some occasions have led to break-ins using small children, to practical jokes such as filling a car's interior with styrofoam peanuts.

What is moonroof vs. sunroof? Well, let us discuss moonroof vs. sunroof in terms sunroof is a workable board in the roof of your car which can actually let the light of the sun or/and air in. On the other hand, moonroof is first designed by Ford in the 70’s and nonetheless almost just the same with the sunroof, only that moonroof has an inbuilt glass panel that is wired electrically, thus still a sunroof.

In the comparison between moonroof vs. sunroof it is safe to said that all moonroofs are actually sunroofs, but still in discussion if it is vice versa. Years before, sunroof are made out of metal panel that allows the light or air inside when opened. Moonroof, in contrast is a glass panel that allows light inside even when it is closed, provided that the fabric-covered material is not exposed to the glass. A Moonroof with that said is like a modification of a sunroof.

In the evaluation between moonroof vs. sunroof, sunroofs these days are actually already like moonroofs; they are made out of glass panels but only tinted. Moonroofs still have that perk of open and close panel that can make your convertible a more sophisticated feel to it.

So are we still up to another moonroof vs. sunroof match? Well, if you already have an understanding of these two, by now you will know that both are actually just the same. Nowadays, they are labeled as equal. Sunroof has modified and moonroof is a modification of sunroof, that simple. Let’s just say that sunroofs could be manually or electrically operated while moonroofs are basically just electrically powered.

Both can be installed to your car or your car already has it. Needless to say, both are useful to your cars’ visual and light cover purposes. Moonroof vs. sunroof? I bet you already know what you should think.

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/sunroof-vs-moonroof.html

Of the many amenities you tend to look for in a car, few seem as cool as the little opening in the roof of your swanky new car. Commonly called a sunroof, it is meant to do just as the name suggests, let the sun in. Going by that logic, a moonroof has got to be the opening in the cars of all nocturnal beings out on the street at night! Well you aren't too far away from the truth.

By definition, sunroofs are venting or sliding openings in the roof of a car (usually right above the rear passenger seat) meant to let the light and/or air into the car. The ones that can be opened, may either be operated manually, or may have a motorized panel. There are many types of sunroofs, depending on the type of car, and of course your taste (not to mention the 'dough' you carry!). There's little, if any difference between the two, moonroofs are in fact a type of sunroof.

Sunroofs are usually opaque, so they are almost always heavily tinted. As a result they let in no air or light as long as they are closed. On the contrary, a moonroof can let in light even when it's closed, and just at the push of a button slides open. Another interesting thing about this feature is something known as the 'panoramic sunroof'. This is a sliding roof that covers the entire span of the top of the vehicle instead of just a small square or rectangular area, and it looks quite magnificent when it is entirely open.

I get the question from time to time, and not many seem to know the real answer: "What is the difference between a moonroof and a sunroof?" Many think that a sunroof is clear and a moonroof is tinted. Nope, not the right answer. Others think that a sunroof will open but a moonroof will not. Wrong again. The truth is that a moonroof is actually a type of sunroof! For more info, I'm deferring to an expert, Marc Levinson of Donmar Sunroofs, who also operates the free sunroof information site, http://www.Sunroofs.org. Here it is:

Just as a sedan is a distinctive type of automobile, a moonroof is a type of sunroof. Sunroof is the generic term used to describe any panel in a vehicle roof which can let in light and/or air. While most sunroof panels are operable, some may be fixed.

The term moonroof was used in the 70's to describe a glass panel inbuilt electric sunroof, and is now used generically to describe all glass panel inbuilt sunroofs. An inbuilt sunroof is one where the operable panel slides between the vehicle roof and headliner, and is often powered but may be manually operated.

There are distinct categories of sunroof products, including: Pop-Up, Spoiler, Folding, Topslider, Inbuilt, Removable Panel [T/Targa] and large roof systems. Sunroofs may be OEM or aftermarket installed. Over 70% of all aftermarket sunroofs sold today are installed for new car dealers, prior to the vehicle being offered for sale. Few vehicle owners know the difference, or that the sunroof may be an aftermarket add-on when the vehicle they purchased included it.

Hope that helps inform the uninformed and reform the misinformed!

What's the difference between a sunroof and a moonroof?
Heather
Crawfordsville, Indiana
Dear Heather:
Having just gone through the long and drawn-out process of purchasing a new car and asking that very same thing, we here at Ask Yahoo! felt uniquely qualified to answer your question. According to the helpful salesman at our local car lot, the difference is in name alone.

Of course, we all know you can't believe everything someone, especially a salesman, tells you, so we looked for confirmation. A search on "sunroof moonroof difference" promised to uncover the truth. Sure enough, the very first search result was a page of frequently asked questions from sunroofs.com, a site "devoted to public awareness and education about automotive sunroofs."

The answer?

"Sunroof" is the generic term used to describe an operable panel in a vehicle roof which can let in light and/or air. "Moonroof" is a term created by Ford in the 70s, yet is now used generically to describe glass panel inbuilt electric sunroofs.

Hmmm, so all moonroofs are sunroofs, yet not all sunroofs are moonroofs? We found further clarification -- "sunroof" is the term originally used to describe a metal panel that would only allow light or air in when opened. A "moonroof," on the other hand, is a glass panel that can allow light in even when it is closed (provided, of course, you slide back that nifty fabric-covered panel to expose the glass).

True sunroofs, those made just of metal, appear to have gone the way of 8-tracks in automobiles, and these days, most "sunroofs" are really "moonroofs" -- panels of tempered glass, usually tinted, that tilt up to allow a flow of air, or slide back into the roof entirely, giving the car occupants a brief but tantalizing glimpse of life in a convertible.

Seems like our friendly salesperson wasn't telling us quite the whole story...

cukup kan lah ya gue rasa itu jadi acuan
